Television programs are designed to attract viewers. This is their primary and overriding purpose. Any ancillary benefit that may be derived from such shows is incidental. I am reminded of a time I was talking to some movers and shakers in the computer magazine publishing industry, and someone made a joking remark about what a shame it was to waste valuable column inches on columns and articles because such frippery took away from the principal mission of the magazine, i.e., to deliver advertising.

Nobody laughed, but that's another story.

The weather flacks were hard at it yesterday, warning all of us down here in southwest Colorado of "blizzard snowstorm" conditions with wind gusts of up to 70 mph, which did cause me to make sure we had enough of everything to stay cooped up in the house for a while, but in the end, between yesterday, last night, and today, I think we had about 45 seconds of whiteout conditions, followed by less than an inch of snow. The wind—well, the howling of the wind was noticeable, but that's nothing new around our neck of the woods.

Another decent slug of work found its way into my inbox today. It's been done and sent, and I've caught up on invoicing. I feel a bout of cooking coming on.

Cheers...
