...a one-man "pity party" about all the stuff I can't do, and how tough things are, it probably wouldn't hurt me to go watch this again a few times, until the party breaks up:

Any day with 4,000 source words to translate is bound to be pretty predictable. Today was an exception.

By noon, I had whittled the job down to around 2,300 source words left to do, whereupon I took a break for lunch and Galina called me via Skype. The reason for the call, aside from being able to see each other while we talked, was so that she could show me her progress putting together a bench we had bought at IKEA before I flew home.

Galina's progress had been stymied by a severe misalignment of a screw hole and the corresponding bolt the screw went into, and the call turned into a technical support session, which was a first for me (and certainly for Galina). In the end, the problem was solved, despite bandwidth problems.

Drew called yesterday, postponing a proposed dinner from yesterday to today, and I went over to the kids' place at around 3 pm. The place was packed with kids and relatives. I felt pretty comfortable, though, and left after almost everyone else, at around 4:30 pm. Upon returning home, I lay down for a few minutes and then forced myself to get back up, since (a) I still had 1,100 words left to translate, and (b) taking a nap after 3 pm virtually guarantees that I won't fall asleep again until way after midnight.

I finished the translation a few minutes ago, and plan to do a full despeckle on both today's work and the paper PowerPoint tiger first thing tomorrow morning.

I hear the kitchen singing, the varied carols I hear, etc. (You probably didn't know that most dirty tablespoons sing baritone, did you?)

Cheers...
