An "off" day...
Jun. 30th, 2011 08:35 pmToday was one of those days where things just didn't come together very well.
I had wanted to attend the stamp auction in Avignon, but between getting out of the house late, getting lost en route (maps I thought I had downloaded hadn't been), and then not wanting to hang around doing nothing for a couple of hours until the Hôtel des Ventes opened for the actual auction, the idea died a quiet death.
It was just as well, because visiting the bank to get some cash revealed that whatever error caused the problem with getting cash back in Paris was still in force, except that the young man at the local branch of the bank was not able to work the miracle his colleague in Paris had been able to accomplish. I only found this out, however, after having to wait half an hour for the bank branch in the city in which I opened the account to reopen for the day (the break ends at 2:15 pm locally, at 2:45 pm in Pontarlier), and then only after getting back in line for about 20 minutes at the branch here in Cavaillon.
When we got back to the house, I called the Pontarlier branch of the bank to find out what the problem was and was assured that it would be cleared by late afternoon tomorrow. I'll believe that when it happens, and meanwhile, I'm happy that my CapitalOne card still works.
The high point of the day was a visit to Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, a sleepy little town with antique shops on sixteen-inch centers, located about as far north of Cavaillon as we are south of it. Sundays they have a market that includes boats parked in the river that runs through the town, but Galina and I will be traveling on Sunday. Tant pis pour nous, I guess. Here are a couple of shots I took from a pedestrian bridge over the river:

No new work arrived today, which was sort of expected. I would not be surprised to receive a pile of work tomorrow, though.
I need to sit down and write invoices for the month. It seems as if it has been a fairly light month, invoice-wise, which is not completely unexpected, but I'll know better in a couple of hours.
Cheers...
