The last time I had an external monitor hooked up to the Acer, I experienced a reluctance to switch my attention from the larger screen to the smaller screen, but didn't think too much about it. Then, during this most recent trip to France, when I only had the Acer screen available (and on occasion, when the local network cooperated, the iPad screen as well, via a useful cross-platform app named MaxiVista), I found working with one or two small screens not too difficult (though I remained aware of their small size).

Today, after having hooked up a 17-inch LCD to the Acer, I'm reliving those difficult moments. My hypothesis as to why this is so has to do with an aversion to repeatedly having to rescale my "vista" from a big screen to a comparatively cramped small screen. As Natalie left behind the 30-plus-inch flat-screen television that we left here when we finished upgrading the house in Seabrook, and as there is an HDMI port on the unit, I think tomorrow I will invest in a suitable cable so that I can work with two large screens, the way I do in Pagosa. I'll also be interested in seeing whether this "reluctance" effect remains when using these screens, or whether the effect only manifests itself when one of the screens is very small.

Today involved nearly a normal day's work load, which I have come to think of as 3,000 target words.

After the rush jobs were out the wire, I went over to Phoenicia Specialty Foods to get some pilmeni, cheese, bread, wine, and yogurt. In retrospect, I should have gotten a second package of pilmeni, because the one I bought was cooked and eaten almost instantly. I was tempted to buy a lot more than I did, but as the store is within walking distance—albeit a hot walking distance—it won't be much of a problem to go back for more goodies.

In other news, I did a little clearing work in the atrium (Texas Lilac grows like a weed, and is considered one in some jurisdictions), but got little else accomplished around the house.

It's a little after half-past ten, but it doesn't feel that way, probably because I fell asleep late in the afternoon. Ah, well... catching up on sleep is a dirty job, but someone's got to do it!

Cheers...
