Getting out of the house...
Nov. 1st, 2011 11:14 pmI did a lot of walking this morning, and learned that stinkhorn mushrooms are actually pretty common around the neighborhood. A number of other mushrooms have appeared over the past couple of days, too. A few years ago, I found some Milky Caps on the property, but that was in August. It is significantly colder now (though warmer today than yesterday).
I made a trek to the Asian market on Hillside Avenue and picked up some victuals, including some Korean rice wine (the name escapes me at the moment, but there is yeast at the bottom of the bottle, which appears to be pressurized from within, likely the result of carbonation) and some spices.
Dinner this evening was my slow-cooked chicken curry (with sweet potatoes and vegetables) and black rice. With any luck, there'll be plenty of rice available for morning breakfasts that include natto. There are at least three more curry meals in the pot, as well.
With all this food in the house and me slicing and dicing in the kitchen, I still managed to burn about 1000 calories more than my quota for the day (according to the fitbit). All that walking and climbing stairs tends to do that for you. :^)
Cheers...
