CLICK-clack!
Mar. 24th, 2012 08:10 pmWhile visiting the local feed store/nursery yesterday, I happened to catch sight of a handbill seeking volunteers to donate time at our local animal shelter, with the twist that starting today and for the next six weeks or so, the same young woman who came by our place a couple of Julys ago to give me some pointers on dealing with Shiloh's pulling behavior is providing instruction on the rudiments of using a clicker as a dog training tool.
The quid pro quo is to use what one has learned in a pilot program at the shelter, intended to show how clicker training can ameliorate the kinds of stress that make some dogs unadoptable, and to promote the kinds of behavior that—on the contrary—bathe the animals in a positive light.
The fact that I can use what I'm learning with Shiloh is icing on the cake.
In other news, I spent most of the first part of the day working, and I expect to spend much of tomorrow doing the same thing. That, and searching for the clicker that I know I brought from New York.
Cheers...
