Why freelance if you can't play hooky every once in a while?

Some non-rush work came in this morning, which led to Galina mentioning something she saw in Durango yesterday, which eventually and compellingly led to my sitting next to her in the Ford, headed west out of Pagosa. It hadn't taken much effort at all to twist my arm.

Along the way, just before we entered the patch of highway with no cell coverage, I got a Skype call from Huntür, and by the time the conversation was over, it had been agreed that she and brother Mathew would come spend the night with the grandparents.

Opportunities such as this do not occur often, so any idea of work was shelved for the day, into tomorrow. Shopping was done with an eye to dinner (something basic: spaghetti and meat balls, and ice cream for dessert), and soon after we got back, the grandkids came over.

A fast run to the store for a last-minute purchase—during which Huntür did twist my arm to include a package of "whole grain" Goldfish in our haul—was punctuated by a stop at the Redbox, so right now, I'm tapping this post on my iPad while the grandkids are watching something called Treasure Buddies, where dogs representing the forces of Good foil the efforts of an evil Cat to dominate the world. (Stuff that makes me nostalgic for the idiocy of U.N.C.L.E. thwarting THRUSH, but I digress...)

Or I just have nothing more to say!
