Little Sand fire from our verandah...

In the mornings, after what are generally calm nights, the smoke from the Little Sand fire lies hard against the ground like fog, unless you get a lungful or two.

By mid-afternoon, with the wind blowing westerly to northwesterly, the fire looks rather non-threatening from a distance.


The fire has now spread to about 4,600 acres and is about 6% contained, according to officials.
