At odd moment, my eye falls on an old circular Rolodex file (which takes the 102 x 56 mm cards) and wonders how I might repurpose it. I had thought that perhaps it might serve as a business card file (recent paper-shuffling has uncovered a rather impressive number of such cards), but for the fact that a rather nifty Rolodex punch made specifically for business cards, which I picked up at a Comdex back when there were Comdexes, went missing some years ago.

And showed up this morning as Galina and I were rummaging through stuff in the garage.

Which didn't really help the cause, because keeping any sort of information Rolodexed means doing so consistently, else what's the point? And if business cards are to be Rolodexed, there is the problem of what to do with cards that place vital information (addresses, phone numbers) close to the edge along the bottom?

In related news, since returning home from the condo, I get the feeling that a box of ours went astray somehow, because certain items just seem to have gone missing. The latest of these is a notebook that contains some stuff that, in retrospect, ought probably to have been kept in a safety deposit box (e.g., the original of my and Galina's marriage certificate from 1976).

Historically, around here, stuff like this eventually "turns up," but there is some urgency about this notebook, having to do with settling Galina's mother's estate in Moscow. Fortunately, it's not the kind of urgency that requires stuff to happen Monday, but Galina and I spent a couple of hours looking for that notebook after the kids left (they had come over earlier in the day for a lunch of hamburgers, hot dogs, and salad), and I having come up empty in the search has left both of us in a grumpy mood.

Better luck tomorrow!
