My day on the road...
Feb. 8th, 2013 10:03 pmI took advantage of Galina's attendance at a real estate seminar to go downtown and register the car. Even though I was driving at or past the end of what is normally considered the rush hour, I still ran into pretty heavy traffic, even though the radio reported no delays anywhere.
Curiously enough, the line at the county tax assessor's office moved swiftly and I was able to get the car registered quickly, and even managed to snag the 30-minutes-or-less rate at the parking lot kitty-corner from the office.
I took advantage of my distance from home to head out toward Westheimer and Beltway 8, where I stopped at Nippon Daido for some natto, and at the Whole Foods Market just to see what they had. I ate lunch at a Thai place, ordering a tasty (if modestly portioned) pad kee-mo.
The road home was slow as well, but I managed to pull into the parking place at the seminar building at just about the time the event was to end. Galina and I drove around a bit afterward and did some shopping.
Dinner was a plate of fried tofu, mushrooms, and baby spinach leaves. It was pretty tasty, if I do say so myself.
It's been a slow week, but the lull has not yet pressed any of my buttons. I plan to address some things around the house this weekend, among other things.
Cheers...
