Saly Lake City!
Jul. 18th, 2015 09:04 pmThursday was spent preparing for and celebrating Kyle's birthday. Yesterday was a bit more intense, as Natalie and I scrambled to get the car and everything ready for departure southward. Tires, check. A/C, check. Oil, check. (And not just "check," y'dig? Fix, if required, and at least one tire and the A/C need attention.) I changed a tail light and Natalie applied toothpaste to "cloudy" headlight glass; the former worked, the latter didn't.
It was early to bed and oh-dark-thirty to rise for us, followed by a day of driving, let me tell you. We crossed back into the U.S. around 7:15 am.
Stories of Montanans driving like maniacs on the Interstates would appear to be somewhat exaggerated, based on today's observations. Indeed, at times, it was as if we were the maniacs.
Montana seemed to go on forever, and so did Idaho. We finally crossed over into Utah and reached our goal this afternoon around 5 pm. It was not our hotel, but a restaurant Natalie had heard about online run by a fellow named Omar and called "Rawtopia." The place offers a raw vegan menu, and I enjoyed the visit very much.
The salad I ordered was filled with seaweed (dulse) and zucchini cleverly sliced to resemble pasta. It was quite filling and reminded me of salad that Natalie had made for me in Calgary.
It's getting late, and while today was the "heavy" day for this trip, tomorrow will be not exactly be a day for slouching.
