A "secondary" day...
Aug. 20th, 2015 10:09 pmFor some time, I've had a policy of accepting modest amounts of work at a reduced rate because the client has agreed to a long delivery time. Such work provides modest cash flow during slow or "dead" days and provides an opportunity of dealing with subjects that one might not otherwise have a chance to work on.
Today was such a day, and in between getting a lot of scut work done with respect to decluttering my life, I managed to get some "secondary" translation done as well. In any event, if I make the same kind of progress with the "secondary" work tomorrow as I made today, things will be in pretty good shape.
It was a fairly wet day, too. Thunder woke everyone pretty early, and I got soaked to the skin walking the dogs after their "breakfast" (else they would refuse to go outside into the rain, or would go as far as the doormat, and then demand to be let back in). I really don't recall when the rain let up; my gut says it was early afternoon.
I've added another small tweak to my BulletJournal, which is a line marked with '?', which is a reminder to make sure something happened by a certain date. For example, a day or so after renewing my vehicle registration online, I received an email informing me that the renewal was successful, and to expect a registration sticker in the mail within 10 days. To make sure this doesn't fall through the cracks, I put a pseudo-task (event?), denoted with a '?', on my calendar twelve days days from the date of the email.
Tai chi went well. Sifu had us do the form very slowly, and I could really feel it working my leg muscles. During the "push hands" part of the session, I tried to apply what I had learned on Tuesday about the "palm-up punch" and made some progress. I also managed to receive a correction during the "freestyle" period near the end of the evening, and will think about what was said as I prepare for bed.
Yes... rack drill! I was not able to take a nap today (my break was consumed with the most recent episode of Mr. Robot, which only gets better with each week), so the pillow looks quite inviting right about now.
G'night!
