The best-laid plans department...
Oct. 2nd, 2015 10:59 pmI really had hoped to get more done today, but it was not to be.
The night before last, I was not able to fall asleep until 3 am. Last night, it was looking to be the same story, so I got to thinking that—since it was technically Friday and I had been planning to take out my catheter in the morning—taking it out now (at about 1:30 am) was not going to greatly disturb the manner in which the universe was unfolding, so about three minutes later, the catheter is out and I am no longer tethered to a tube with a plastic bag at the end of it.
My new-found freedom was not without its cost, which consisted of an utter inability to control my bladder, at least not until I got out of bed and planted myself in the recliner in my office. Something about the way it holds my body in the reclined position kept me dry.
Most of the day today was also a struggle with incontinence, but everything I've read about this unfortunate consequence of my operation says (a) it happens to pretty much all patients, and (b) it's correctable in all but a few cases. I will start again tomorrow.
I cannot say I got nothing else done, but none of the important things on my to-do were among them.
I'll do better tomorrow, which is going to be one big day.
Cheers...
