Overdrive mode...

So, the big job I've been working on is finally out the wire.

It has been replaced with an even bigger job, due a few days short of Christmas.

You'll hear no complaints from me, for sure.

But I am going to have to revisit my time allocation options for very nearly everything else in my existence, right now.

That said, there is (almost) nothing else breathing down my neck right now.

I think I may go take care of that "(almost)," so I can be "free" for the rest of the day.

OMG...

I finally got around to dealing with the BlueCross BlueShield letter I got late last month, telling me (surprise!) that my coverage was being cancelled, offering to automatically enroll me in Some Other Plan™ as of January 1.

I have visited a couple of recommended web sites that do not work very well (e.g., I fill in all the blanks on the screen, click "Next," and the site complains that I didn't fill in the name of my state, which wasn't requested) and I've also spent a bunch of time speaking on the phone to someone whose dealing-with-the-customer script seems to be treating me as a new BlueCross BlueShield customer, despite being already being a customer. (And they were not questions intended to establish my identity, FWIW.)

It turns out the information I was able to glean online is useless. The best way to find out who to insure myself with is to talk to my doctors and ask what they'll be accepting come the new year.

[UPDATE: The way things are shaping up based on today's conversations, it looks like I'll have to continue my cancer treatments at, maybe, Bubba's Cancel Clinic and Sports Bar instead of at MD Anderson. Meanwhile, BC/BS will continue to charge me pretty much what I've been paying this past year, but with a higher deductible.]

[FURTHER UPDATE: Apparently, BC/BS of Texas is following Pelosi's Pronouncement, i.e., I have to wait until my plan becomes effective on January 1 before I can find out what it covers, but all is not lost—I have until the 15th to figure out what is covered and make any changes. I think.]
