Yesterday's taiji session was held during the height of one of the many rainstorms that pelted the area yesterday after I arrived for class.

I mention that because the traffic headed from our house to the school was significantly lighter yesterday, and while I can come up with reasons as to why that should be so (e.g., last day of school and many parents were leaving work early to attend various end-of-year ceremonies?), none of them say anything about how traffic might be in the future. At any rate, from door to door, it took me less than 30 minutes to get to my session.

The session started with sifu introducing us to some qigong that was described to us as "old people's exercises," which—as it turns out—is pretty much exactly what I need, as the motions were clearly designed to get various joints to move. Ouch! After that warmup, the rain started coming down in earnest, making it difficult to hear what was being said, as the building we were in has a metal roof.

We ended up doing a pretty good session that covered all of the tuishou (推手, or "pushing hands") drills to which I have been introduced, which makes me hopeful that introductions to some additional drills is in the offing.

More work came in from client Z. I decided to take the high road and not complain (I know—what a concept!). I'm just going to take things as they come.

That said, I am giving thought to the idea of actually, like, retiring from work. It's kinda scary, but exciting at the same time.

Cheers...
