Happy Translator's Day!
Sep. 30th, 2016 08:33 amI don't know where along the line September 30 morphed from International Translator's Day to International Translation Day, but to me, the difference is as stark as Sam Clemens' juxtaposition of "lightning" and "lightning bug."
The former celebrates individuals; the latter, a product. It just seems wrong to me.
Then again, perhaps I've been blind all these years, and the day has always carried the somewhat (in my view) milquetoast-y "translation" moniker.
But it's not worth wasting any more cycles on this than I already have. Let me just say, to all my translator colleagues, may St. Jerome pray for us and for all who invoke his aid (regardless of circumstance).
Cheers...
