It all comes out reasonably well...

The toughest thing about having alternating "boom" and "bust" invoicing months is having to take a little extra time to get one's financial bearings. Seeing as how invoicing over the past few months has fluctuated from downright poor to awesome-plus, I think I've finally gotten any squeamishness about such variations knocked out of me.
In point of fact, December has exceeded my expectations.
* * * I was about to renew my ATA membership at the usual annual rate when my eye fell upon something called a Life Member rate, which is steeply discounted from the rate that must be paid by the "youngsters," as it is reserved to those 60 years of age or over who have been ATA members for at least 20 consecutive years.
Check, and check (I think).
The first, of course, was a no-brainer, but when I couldn't find a way to select this option from the ATA's website, I dropped the head office a note, asking them about this omissiona and (by the way) to confirm I was eligible for the Life Member rate. (Who knows? Maybe the member portion of the site doesn't display options you're not eligible for—though admittedly, that'd require the kind of database chops I don't think the organization has sunk into the site in general.)
I joined ATA in September 1994, and years of membership are apparently counted from the date one joins (although by my humble calculations, even if one considers 1995 to be my first full year of membership, that'd make 2014 my 20th consecutive full year of membership, so I'd be eligible that way as well).
To make a long story short ("Too late!" says my mouse pad), I'm eligible and plan to renew tomorrow.
* * * It was a fairly active day, from the work perspective. I despeckled and sent off 5500 target words that I completed yesterday, translated a bunch of "seasons greetings" messages, and translated another 4500 target words before calling it a night.
I'm ready for some rack drill.
Cheers...
