So there I am, looking at my task bar—which now stretches far beyond the capacity of my monitor to display fully—wondering what the orange circle with the upward pointing arrow is all about.

It turns out to be the "Office 2016 Upload Center," which has been helpfully installed—against my will—to help manage Office file uploads to web servers.

Item: I do not routinely upload Office files to web servers. I do not even do so on an occasional basis.

So where do I go to uninstall this useless function that does nothing but slow down my computer?

I'll be dipped if I can tell. Clicking on "Help" and searching for "uninstall" returns the entirely predictable and complete lack of useful information about uninstalling the software.

I must make a note to block out some time to search the Internet to see if, indeed, there is a way to choke off this "feature."

You'd think by now, I'd be used to such impersonal incompetence.

Sigh.

Try removing it from your startup folder (msconfig).
