Be it ever so humble...

Home again, and it feels good to be here. Lee and I stopped at the grocery store on the way home and we decided to celebrate with some nice steaks.
After getting somewhat settled back in, I transferred the photos from my camera to my Windows box. My one and only shot of the Shuttle during takeoff yesterday came out pretty well, and I've added a scaled-down version of it to my post describing the launch. There are a number of other photos to crop, adjust, balance, and resize, but I'll leave those tasks for another day.
Curiosity got the better of me a few minutes ago and I hit the Powerade site to see what I had won as a "First Prize," as shown on the label I spoke of a few days ago. It turns out - after waiting a while for all the whizzy crap to load onto my browser - that my redemption code entitled me to (... drum roll, maestro! ...) download a file containing a Powerade screen saver, animated icons, an assortment of seven screens of wallpaper and - my favorite - system sounds.
Depending on what I selected as my screen resolution, the package would take anywhere from 12 to 36 minutes to download.
To give the poor chumps who decide this is a great prize the assurance that they are indeed among an elite group, the site takes great care in informing you that your redemption code is no longer valid. If you want another opportunity to spend a portion of your life downloading marketing slime, you'll just have to go out and buy another bottle of Powerade. Yeah, right.
Cheers...
