alexpgpIt started to snow this morning, and I figured I had more than enough translation work to keep me from doing a workmanlike job of framing in the back wall at the store. Seeing as how the snow season is to end soon (and a dismal one it was while it lasted), I figured Drew and Shannon would want to go up for a kind of last (or near-last) snowboarding session before the winter well and truly ends.
"Would you and mom mind looking after Huntur?" came the question.
A line from a children's book crossed my mind (Whatever ya do, brotha Fox, please don't fling me in that Briar Patch!).
"Sure. No problem. Go have fun."
So, for the first time in Huntur's life (literally, no kidding), she and Shannon were separated for almost 6 hours.
Galina and I had a good time. It started when I came into Huntur's room to make sure all was okay. She was just-just coming out of her nap, and she opened her eyes and looked at me for a while with a very... deep look, for lack of a better phrase. It seemed there was much more behind those eyes, in terms of understanding, than an 8-month old little girl. Anyway, we all had a lot of fun until mom and dad came home.
Nonetheless, I had to battle to keep from thinking about work. Once the kids came home, I attacked the first editing job, which turned into an entirely-too-lengthy translation job (it was called an edit because someone had added a lot of material to an existing file; that material is what I translated).
Then, after a quick dinner of black beans, rice, and sausage, I attacked the 5-page item that came with that edit.
Now, I am left with a 17-page edit that - as I look at it - I recall having agreed to do the figures for (ugh!), in addition to the editing. My plan for the evening is to edit the piece (I'm not looking forward to it; the translator is not all that good when it comes to computer stuff), and then to get up tomorrow morning to do the figures.
So, two down and one to go... time's a wasting...
