The item that client T sent me is fairly straightforward and somewhat repetitive, but it also contains stuff that I know I researched a while back, and which - apparently - I did not make any particular note of.

My bad, people.

I looked through some files manually, but even with a bunch of files removed from my desktop, searching through my collection of Word files takes an awful long time. I gave up.

What I think I'll do - in my "copious" spare time - is adapt the search mechanism that I developed for my LJ text for my translations. (Of course, it's not going to do me much good if I don't run my translations through the code!)

In general, though, it's been another joyous day spent ignoring the world around me and focusing on this screen that sits a scant 18 inches from my eyeballs. Dual-element security devices are the Center of my universe, for now.

Ye gods.

Tomorrow morning, I think I may go to the ham breakfast, if only to focus my eyes on something else. It's rained some this past week, but not steadily, nor enough to really soak the ground. I don't know if there'll be mushrooms out there... there's a part of me that says there will be (is that the optimist?), and another part that asks, "Who're you trying to kid, bub? It's dryer than one of your dad's martinis out there!" (is that the pessimist? or the subliminal alcoholic?)

Anyway... it's time to go do something else, even if that "something" is: go to bed.

Cheers...

what is dual-element security and why's your monitor 18 inches? that sounds very very far...

A dual-element device incorporates two sensing technologies in one package, e.g., infrared and ultrasound.

Why 18 inches? Gee, I dunno. Any closer and I look funny staring at the screen. Any further, and I can't read what's on it.

why do you need an infrared and an ultrasound protective barrier between you and the monitor? Or did I miss something?

I'm afraid I wasn't being very explicit. The translation I was working on had to do with various kinds of security hardware (such as one might use to safeguard a bank, or a nuclear arsenal), and I was working my way through a section on dual-elements sensors at about the time I wrote my post.

Cheers...
