I went upstairs after my previous post, and Galina and I ended up watching Life or Somthinng Like It, with Angelina Jolie.

The hook is interesting: A reporter (Jolie) is told several predictions by a street "prophet," among which is a statement that she will die in a week. All of the prophet's short-term predictions are 100%-on-the-money, which gets the reporter to thinking about life... the universe... and everything. Time grows short and Jolie makes big changes in her life. In the end, everyone appears to be living happily ever after.

Surely, some will knock the film heartily as it dares to have the "is what you accomplished worth what you gave up" question asked by Jolie and answered by a Famous Woman Personality (played by Stockard Channing), with a very strong hint that, well, maybe... no, it wasn't worth it. Such incorrect thought is believed by some to reflect attitudes squarely of the "keep-em-barefoot-and-pregnant" school of thought.

Idiocy aside, the film raises some interesting points, and although Jolie's performance is not exactly what I'd call unforgettable (though I admit she is attractive), there is something about those moments with her sister and her boyfriend, when she is asking questions that they have never bothered to ask and don't understand anyway, that make the film endearing.

Anyway, after the movie, I went back downstairs and did a couple more pages of Junior. I have three pages to go (the boiler part went quickly). Once I check the text, it'll be addio to El Humungo and his ilk. For a while.

Paper chase time.

Cheers...
