Bad harbinger?
Aug. 8th, 2003 09:30 amThe past few nights have found me waking up to wrap something warm around me, as Natalie has a tendency to set the thermostat to what seems to be sub-freezing for the night. This morning, however, I woke up at 3:30 am for the opposite reason: it was uncomfortably hot in the room, despite the sound of active ventilation. I managed to drift back off around 4:30 am, but it didn't get any cooler between then and when I woke up.
I've never met an air conditioning bill that I liked, since they typically climb into triple figures without working up any kind of sweat (no pun intended). That, plus the fact that - realistically speaking - tomorrow is about the only day we have to resolve the problem (with Natalie being the vanguard while I hang out in the frigid bowels of the MCC, interpreting space-to-ground), assuming we can get an a/c person out to visit us.
(I have misplaced the number of the guy who usually does this kind of work for us, and a quick look at the unit failed to find the advertising sticker that service people often affix to things like a/c units, though I noticed a lot of poplar lint covering the cooling fins. Upon returning home tonight, I will do my level best to remove them to see if that affects things at all... I suspect it won't, but it's worth a try...)
Cheers...
