Just when you thought you'd seen it all, the Chandra X-ray telescope captures this image of the Perseus star cluster. The red and orange represent X-ray emitting gas in the cluster.

Yeah. Right.

There's no telling what a tabloid will do.

A long, long time ago, when I was an innocent, green-behind-the-ears freelance writer, I sent a query to a well-known tabloid asking if they would be interested in a short article describing a theory - published in Soviet Astronomy Letters, a reputable journal - of where the most likely places in the sky were located to perform SETI research.

I figured the item I had easily beat the crap they routinely published purporting to be from Russia, especially since mine was backed up by a solid reference.

Despite what I thought was a great hook in my initial query, the tabloid wasn't interested.
