Yesterday's post has been privatized, to protect the guilty (me).

Not that there is anything scurrilous or abusive in what I said, but let's just say my selection of words was inauspicious. When I called a certain party "ignorant, or in any event, intent on making the life of the working translator more difficult," what I really meant to say was something along the lines of "not conscious of the fact that the way they do business makes the life of the working translator more difficult."

A response from the "Sony 505" yahoogroup (devoted to owners of small VAIO units) and some subsequent research on the net led me to upgrade the firmware on my Linksys BEFW11S4 access-point/router/switch. As a result, the built-in wireless capability of proust now appears to work. Not only that, but when I took it to the store yesterday afternoon (to spell Drew for the last hour of the day), I turned the unit on and it worked with the store's wireless access point as well. That makes me - at least for the moment - a happy camper.

Still, I think I'll take along a PCMCIA wireless card when I travel. Just in case.

If I go to Houston in the near future, it shall have to be after meeting with the accountant (score one to-do for today), and I shall have to find out what the drill is with regard to missing a jury duty summons on the 11th (score another to-do). Then there's...

Heck, the to-dos are starting to come at a fast and furious rate now, and this is not the right forum for recording them. Ciao.

Cheers...
