Today actually felt like the first routine day in a while, which is interesting, because I got awfully homesick last night. I don't think I've ever longed for home as much.

The main part of my work today was to handle the daily status meeting, the format of which reminds me a lot of NASA tagups (which should not be surprising). My boss, Sergey Z., scheduled me for basically a half-day at the полтинник, allowing me the rest of the day on a standby basis. (During which I did a little extra work.)

Tomorrow's schedule calls for me to accompany a mixed group of French- and English-speaking campaign participants on a tour of the Gagarin museum at the cosmodrome, followed by a visit to Pad No. 2, from which Gagarin was launched on his historic flight. I am looking forward to it (despite the knowledge that the interpretation load will be quite considerable, if the museum guides at the Star City museum are any benchmark). In fact, if I'm really lucky, I should be able to get some souvenir cards to send back home (I came here with some blank stationery and - Lord help me - with some postcards of Pagosa Springs... go figure!).

I'm thinking this may be a good time to go get a little exercise.

Cheers...

Hey daddy-o! Mom called and asked if I had heard from you recently. I told her I hadn't. she sounds a little bummed out. Can you please send me a postcard?

I love you! How much longer are you going to be there?

Phones have been strange around here, but I think I have them finally figured out. The secret is to get on the phone around now (8-9 am), when everyone else is at the "office." Trying to call in the evenings can be described in two words: im possible.

As soon as I get my hands on some postcards that aren't of downtown Pagosa Springs, I'll send some. There are literally no stores around here, and most certainly no post offices.

I called home, but got our answering machine. I left a long-ish message, but I know that's no substitute for the Real Thing.

Love ya.

Cheers...
