Loins-girding time...
May. 30th, 2004 05:28 pmThe laundry is done and the interpreter schedule for the next couple of days has been issued, driving home the inescapable fact that tonight, the British contingent will be putting on some kind of social event at the Proton Club (complete, I am told, with humorous touches) and tomorrow night, the French will be serving a repast featuring lamb that has been roasted on a spit over a bed of coals.
All of this is, of course, in addition to the regular schedule of work, which comprises a 10-hour day at the полтинник tomorrow and another on-call day that culminates in a 4-hour stint at the полтинник from 7 pm until 11 pm on Tuesday.
In anticipation of this evening's festivities, I forced myself to nap for an hour or so. Then I finished about 1000 words of outside work to get that out of the way.
* * * I have been fairly successful in not thinking about how much longer I'm going to be here, but seeing the date change on the schedule from May to June, I couldn't help it, and noted with some relief that this campaign is a hair over half complete, based on the original schedule. I shall now do my best to put this question out of my mind. Dwelling on how much you miss loved ones is a sure path to feeling bad.
Cheers...
