Ballunar Liftoff '04!

As I was coming in to The Office, I saw a number of hot-air balloons in the sky, which can only mean one thing: Ballunar Liftoff '04!

Here are a couple of shots taken with the new Samsung. From along NASA Road One:

UPDATE: Oof! Maybe it's this monitor, but these images look terrible, and I'm not talking about the artifacts that apparently were introduced in the reduction from 640x480 to 400x300! It looks as if the default "out of the box" settings on the camera are less than optimal (the sun was off to my side in the first shot), or the camera just plain outright is poor. I shall have to revisit the subject tonight, maybe, after all my translation work is done. Maybe something can be salvaged, if not now, then for the future?

At least they indicate what was happening. I usually can't get over there early enough to see the events.

Is 640x480 a low resolution setting or is that one of those simple little point-and-shoot digitals. The images look like what I got with a $20 Vivitar digital. Some of the results were very artistic looking.

Actually, now that I've gotten home and taken a look on my daughter's machine, the photos are not anywhere near as grainy (though the top one is definitely dark).

The 640x280 is the high res setting on my new Samsung A610 cell phone. Fortunately, I don't use it for photography (grin), but to converse with people.

Hi! I've noticed that you haven't posted in rq_version2 for quite some time now, and I wanted to inform you that a lot of members have left the community and things are quite slow right now. The members who left are the ones who created the most drama, and now the remaining members are trying to get things going again... but with a more mature group of members. Please come back and contribute to making RQv2 a busy and mature community!
