Things're looking up...

alexpgpI don't know whether it's just a pathetic absence of a "life" (as in the expression, "get a life") outside of work or - looking at it from a positive point of view - the auspicious prospect of paying bills next month, but my spirits were buoyed tremendously by the arrival of new assignments, all of which are due Monday and impose significant constraints on holiday-related plans.
The first item is in work. I've got a little over 1000 source words done out of 5500. The second item just arrived in my inbox, and I haven't had an opportunity to look at it yet, but the way it was described over the phone, it's going to be quite a challenge. A third item has been quoted, but I don't expect an answer until Monday (and it's not due until next Thursday, anyway, which puts it outside the range of my immediate radar).
I'm in the store right now, giving Drew the last hour of the day off, and even that is almost gone. We've agreed I'll be here tomorrow morning until he goes downtown and brings back the mail, after which I'll return home, hit the keyboard a few thousand times, and also clean up the living area upstairs in anticipation of Huntür's coming by to color some eggs. I plan to introduce her to something I saw my grandmother do, and that's use onion skin to impart a sort of tie-dyed pattern of varying shades of brown on the shell.
I need to go do some shopping once I close the doors for the night, and then go back home, eat dinner, and put another dent in the work pile on my plate. It has been snowing for much of the day, though the accumulation has pretty much melted. I look forward to sunnier weather.
