alexpgpGot home last night and sat down to dinner while Wag the Dog was playing on the tube. Feht, the other night, surprised me by saying he felt this was one of the best films ever made. For the few minutes that I watched, I cannot say I was struck by the same awe. It's a cute film, yes. And it makes an interesting social comment, true. But one of the best films ever made? Uh-uh.
After dinner, I went downstairs to lay the third translation to rest. Details are best left out of this discussion. It is enough to say I finally tamed the beast. As the phone was in use and I was determined to go to bed without delay, I put off e-mailing the document back until this morning. That task is now done, and I am free...for about 20 minutes, then it's "gotta get ready for work" again.
Coming home yesterday, I happened to glance up at the eastern skyline as I looked to my left at a stop sign. What a magnificent sight!
The sun was going down behind me, reddening the sky to the west, and casting a reddish sheen in the east on the snow-covered mountains and on the billowing cumulus clouds above them, turning the clouds into a mad swirl of color: some white, lots of orange, hints of darker red turning to gray. I wished I had a camera (maybe not, in retrospect, as I'm sure I'd be disappointed with the captured image). I rushed home, getting there about 5 minutes later, but the show was over. Another time, maybe...
It's about ten of 7. I think I'll go upstairs and make some coffee...maybe a bite to eat.
