Passive aggression?

alexpgpIn theory, the codes that Déjà Vu embeds in text have some identifiable purpose for existence (say, to mark the {33}start and end{34} of italic text). However, in practice, there is no telling just what the program "had in mind" when it creates an abomination like this:
I've already done the squeaky wheel routine with this assignment, which - thank Providence - got me a better file to deal with. Better, but far from ideal.
And although the end result will be very nearly impossible for me to check over (heck, even doing a spell check will be well-nigh impossible), I figure I will follow the client's instructions to the letter and render the translation with tags positioned as in the original.

But I have to figure that, right or wrong, this is going to drive the editor(s) over the brink. While not a worthy goal in and of itself, perhaps the ensuing conversation(s) with the project manager will have a beneficial effect over the long term.
I am the very model of the insufferable optimist, ain't I?
