Refenestrated!

After lunch yesterday, I took a nap, went to visit the beach with Shiloh, and in general acted as if it was the weekend, which it was, in a way... at least for me. Then I took advantage of the "redbox free Monday" promotion that I'm subscribed to and rented Eastern Promises to watch during the evening.
Viewed on the level of violent entertainment, the movie delivers. As far as granting any kind of insight into any aspect of reality, the fight scene in the public bath was excellently staged, delivering on the two absolute truths of fights involving knives: (1) they're short, and (2) the side without the knife is going to get cut up, even if it wins the fight. When I returned the disk earlier today, I managed to snag a copy of I Am Legend, which I am looking forward to watching, just as soon as Galina is finished with updating her knowledge of "entertainment news."
Speaking of which, I find it most depressing that political figures are figuring ever more prominently on such shows, but then again... the shows are tasked with covering "entertainment," so I probably shouldn't complain.
A crew showed up today to change out the ancient and drafty windows in the place and replace them with nifty new, energy efficient fenestration. As a result, the entire house has been cold all day, but now that it's starting to warm back up, the air is filled with the smell of whatever solvent was in the caulk used to seal the new windows. Blarf!
It may make sense to run the attic fan before retiring and try to get most of the addled air out of the house (even if that means cooling the house down) else I predict we'll all wake up with a headache tomorrow morning.
New work came in today, around noon. It's a 22-page document, due on Thursday morning, which means I really only have tomorrow to work on it. I ought to be able to finish the job in that time, although there won't be many opportunities for breaks.
Folks feeling outrage over recent decisions made by LJ management are calling for a one-day content action on March 21, during which they pledge to make no posts and no comments. The idea is that a precipitous one-day drop in usage will bring management around to recognizing community gripes. Uh-huh.
To be frank, I have reservations about the usefulness of such an action, to the point where the thought has crossed my mind that the whole concept has been hatched by LJ management to undercut those who have since taken up leading roles in this direction.
I mean, what happens if the expected drop in posting stats isn't that large? Or even noticeable? The only thing left to do will be to leave, which might be perceived by some as not a necessarily bad outcome. (Apropos of which, might someone point me at where one can access these statistics? Are they really posted at 24-hour intervals?)
Cheers...

(Blarf, on the other hand, is just something I farblegargled.)
