Galina and I got to the store a little after 6 this morning, and I roused Drew with a phone call at 6:30 to come help us. Somehow, we got the store put back together in time for the start of the business day.

Time alternately flew and crept throughout the day. Drew went home around 7:30 am. Galina went home around 10:30, returning about an hour later and arriving at the store with Drew, and at the same time as Lee, who was comingback from downtown, where she picked up the day's mail.

I found a could of old diskettes of commercial fax software downstairs last night. Trying to install it was strange, as the routine kept prompting me for various accounts, such as CompuServe, Delphi, and MCI Mail (ancient history, all of them). I finally ended up installing Yet Another Fax Program, a shareware offering called MightyFax. The quality of the printout is better than what I have seen yet. The program is in charge of receiving faxes overnight, but if it can't hack the job, then I'll have no other choice but to go out and get a commercial fax program.

The Trados translation memory software that I ordered a while back arrived yesterday, but I haven't had a chance to do much more than open the box and review the documentation. Like a lot of recent software, the publisher puts all of the docs on the distributions CD, and provides only a really skimpy set of paper docs. I don't really mind this approach when the whole package runs $39, but this purchase was an order of magnitude more expensive, yet as a customer, I seem to only rate a set of PDF files.

Oh, well... the point of the purchase was two-fold: First, it has a long track record, despite some bumps in the road. Second, developing proficiency with it may open some doors for new clients, who prefer to work with translators that know their way around the product.

Client U called with 6 pages for Monday. I accepted, as 6 pages should not take very long, and U pays well.

That about sums up the day, unless I start to think about it, which is not likely, as I plan to hit the hay soonest.

Cheers...
