Just finished watching a French film, L'Homme du train (Man on the Train) with Galina. All was going fairly well until the last five minutes, where the director completely lost me. Otherwise, it appears to be an eminently watchable film, and I think I understood more of the dialog than in previous films.
We're now watching W's speech at the Republican convention, or at least, I've got it in the background and am not attentively listening. The reason we have it on at all is a consequence of Natalie's newly started government class, which assigned its students to watch the thing. Hmm. Given the level of intellectual diversity typically exhibited at colleges and universities in this country, I wonder what the point of the assignment really is. Anyway...
I've been really putting the shoulder to the wheel the past couple of days, and tomorrow, I expect to finish the giant document I've been editing the past couple of days. Two of the other "old timers" working on the project will be out of the office next week, and I can't help but feel a bit intimidated, since basically the same work load will be distributed among a smaller number of people.
I've given some thought to the crazy idea of driving to Colorado with Galina on Saturday, and driving back to Houston on Monday. I said it was crazy, and we aren't going to do it. But I thought I'd mention it. I miss the kids. I miss the dog. I miss the house. I miss Pagosa.
Cheers...
