My passport came back with a new multiple-entry visa for Russia, and I picked it up when I stopped by the store early this afternoon, ready to help out. As it turned out, my help was not needed (the pile of packages was smaller today), so went back home to do more work.

This year's visa differs in some respects from the visa I got last year (although it's printed on the same adhesive form). The main difference is that it's not valid for a full year, but only for 10 months and change. (Then again, the previous visa was not actually valid for 12 months, but 11 months and change.) I figure this is a result of a date on the so-called "letter of invitation" that's required for everyone who visits the country, I don't know. The other major change is in under the heading "Type," but there's been a change in Russian law since the previous visa was issued, and the designation on my visa -- "ОГ" -- isn't listed in the copy of the law I was able to find via a Google search, so I'm not sure what it means.

I got a short item to do this morning for tomorrow, and finished it and sent it back before going to the store. I also sat down and wrote two invoices, the second of which grouped all of my December work so far for my prime Houston client into a respectable sum. In fact, I've made my "nut" for the month, and we're haven't invoiced the item currently on my plate or the first few days of the Kazakhstan gig, which starts on the 26th, so even if nothing else turns up this month, my mind is at ease.

One question that's been nagging me is this: am I, perhaps, being too modest in my monthly invoicing goal? I think I've reached the goal for 10 of this year's 12 months, and quite comfortably, thank you, in about half of those months.

This is among the serious questions I shall have to consider when reviewing my progress this year. (BTW, just as in past years, another serious question will deal with doing a better job reviewing my progress during the year.)

Galina is home. Time to rustle up something for dinner and then, maybe, some quiet time. It's been a long day.

Cheers...
