It occurs to me that in all the excitement of getting down to Houston, the observance of Father's Day sort of fell by the wayside. Which is not to say I somehow feel my life is not complete... I pretty much have a ball wherever I am, ceteris paribus... it's just that I neglected to convey appropriate wishes to my dad and to my son, who is also a father. [Please ignore this manifestation of brain flatulence... thank you.]

Last night was an easy tour: I made it through the night with hardly a yawn. This past night has been significantly more difficult, from the perspective of fatigue. When I got back to the room yesterday, I slept for about 4 hours, and then I slept for an hour or two at Natalie's while Galina and I waited for her to return home after work, and again for an hour just before coming in for this shift. Taken together, it might be a good night's sleep; split three ways... it doesn't feel like enough.

I've a mind to go straight back to the room after this shift and hit the hay, though it would be nice to stop by an office supply place to exchange some merchandise. Such stores open pretty early, if memory serves, though it's possible my relief will have a telecon today, delaying my departure and making the issue of when such stores open irrelevant.

I should probably go check over the daily status report I've translated before my relief is scheduled to show up. That, and prepare for the flight control room shift handover conference scheduled for just under an hour from now.

Cheers...

If there's one thing worse than missing a holiday, it's lamenting the fact (semi-)publicly and then being apprised of the actual circumstance that said holiday is actually 5 days in the future. The one consolation is that whatever regrets one may have expressed about having missed the holiday take on a sort of wispy, ethereal quality.

I stand happily corrected.

Sleep - the lack of which may have contributed to this early morning's little brain fart - came spottily today as it has the past couple of days, with my logging about two hours after getting back from JSC this morning and another... oh, call it three hours ending just a few minutes ago. The plus side of this regime is being able to do things in the middle of the day that most people can't, owing to work schedules. Moreover, Galina being here allows me to do those things with her, too (for example, we have a lunch date tomorrow at 1 pm with a family friend).

On the whole, though, I do prefer sleeping through the night.

I should go get ready for the, um, day.

Cheers...
