A nice day, sort of...
Sep. 4th, 2006 08:41 pmIf it weren't for the paper chase, this would have been a pretty good weekend.
What I mean by that is that Galina and I spent some quiet time together - I particularly liked our lunches, which we shared from a common plate in an attempt to control our portions, and I got to do some slow cooking, including the mimicry of a chili recipe I saw on the tube. Now, if we only hadn't had to spend much of the rest of our time going through the dead-wood detritus of the store...
One thing I did manage to do was to set up a two-computer network through a hub and copy the entire contents of our store's main data computer (aka "Borg") to my VAIO, after which I burned the contents onto two backup DVDs. I may go back and rearrange the files in the directory on my VAIO so that they're better organized and burn another DVD, but I'll worry about that after I make more progress in general, perhaps enough to allow Galina and me to go to Houson.
I did manage to work up the courage to leave an off-topic post for LJ friend
ninjamonkeyspy, asking if he'd been able to figure out what causes some strange behavior in a layout he'd developed for the S2 system here on LJ. For a while, now, I've noticed that the scheme I built on the basis of his very attractive theme doesn't handle voice posts very well, but had held back asking for advice, hoping I could muster enough skill to figure out what was causing the problem on my own. In any event, he was kind enough to reply with exactly the information I needed, enabling me to fix the problem, so now that little annoyance is solved.
It's still early enough in the evening to get some more stuff accomplished, or not. I shall now go off and muse on it.
Cheers...
