From the response to my delivery email:

Thanks for your accurate translation and prompt delivery of our project.

When you have a chance, please send us your CV to insert into our
database for future reference.

It's been a real pleasure working with you. We look forward to work together again in the near future.
I can't help it, but the wording of the second sentence creates a singular image in my mind of someone attempting to "insert" a document into a database. But I pick nits. It's always nice to get a note like this.

Note to self: Bump updating your CV up a couple of notches, okay?

In other news, I managed to get to the 5500-words-left mark last night (or close enough). This morning, however, I've lost a lot of time researching some terms (most notably надморенный водоносный горизонт, which I eventually decided was simply a moraine aquifer), so I've only translated about 1000 words of what's left. At this rate, I might finish by the time I hit the sack tonight, after a pretty long day.

One thing is certain, however: the document won't translate itself.

Cheers...

I've broken the 3,000-words-left barrier (the actual figure stands at 2300 words left).

Earlier, I let the client know that, as agreed, the document will be delivered tomorrow morning, just not necessarily "first thing in the morning," so that's one less thing to worry about. So I figure if push comes to shove and I get to something like 1,000 words left and cannot stomach one more word of this translation tonight, I can always pick it up again early tomorrow and finish the job.

On the one hand, it's turning out that playing hooky on Wednesday is making life pretty difficult now, but on the other, if I had to do it again, I would.

Back to work.

Cheers...

I've actually been away from the keyboard for a while. I have 533 words left in the translation, and I will take care of them tomorrow morning.

That makes today a 5,000-source-word day, and my bones feel it, and my posterior feels it, and my fingers feel it, and I can't type any more, it seems.

Time to see if there's anything on the tube. There'll be time enough to finish the job tomorrow.

Cheers...
