A search string of a product name plus the manufacturer often takes you to a page with product data for the item, often in English.

Case in point: what the present source (I am on the last page!) calls a "pièce de référence," manufactured by Hocking, as part number 29A032.

Hocking calls it a "test block," which is what I call it in the translation, as opposed to a "reference item" or something similar.

After this page comes the despeckling, then 2000 words of the other item, then... well... I have the rest of the weekend to myself!

I lay down to take a nap at... I'm not sure when - I'm thinking it was late afternoon - and woke up at nearly 8 pm.

I had been working on and off on the French job, finishing it around 4:30 pm, after which I returned The Great Debaters to Blockbuster (because I knew I wouldn't have time to watch it before it was due at midnight, grrr...), came back to the room, and translated all but the last 1000 words of the aerospace item due tomorrow... so I guess I must have dozed off around 6 pm.

Which means I'll probably not fall asleep easily tonight, but that sounds like a personal problem to me. But if I don't get all three jobs out the door by the time I need to be asleep (90 minutes from now, for a 5 am wakeup), there's a-gonna be trouble!

Cheers...

The translations and all outstanding invoices have been sent, so I can go to sleep with a clear mind.

While passing by the Barnes & Noble next to the Mediterranean Buffet yesterday, I decided to test my French vocabulary by picking up a box of 1000 flash cards. So far, I'm ahead of the game (I think). Having gone through about 160 of the cards, it turns out I know a bit more than half of them cold, and of the rest, about half were words that I knew, but could not recall.

Tomorrow is an early start, since word of my group's slipped meeting apparently never made it to the badging office, which issued badges that expired on the original last day of the meeting, which was last Friday. Then it'll be off to what has been promised as a long day.

I will be ready.

Cheers...
