Christmas Eve morning in Roswell...
Dec. 24th, 2009 07:32 amThe night passed quietly, once I locked the kittens in the bathroom with water and food. I got up around an hour ago and took Shiloh for a walk. The streets and sidewalks are icy, and there's about two inches of snow on the ground elsewhere. Breakfast was store-bought, from a Sonic across the street from the Motel 6.
Alas, there'll be no time to sightsee, as Houston is - according to MapQuest - about 11 hours away (and I'm sure that estimate doesn't take into consideration the at-times icy road conditions between here and however far south of here), which will put me at my destination after dark, but not late after dark.
The drill for the day: 210 miles to Fort Stockton and I-10, then 310 miles east to San Antonio, where I watch the highways do-si-do as I try to get back on I-10 for the final 180 miles or so to Houston.
Time to get on the road.
Cheers...
