Earworm cure...
Nov. 14th, 2011 09:59 amI came back from a walk with Shiloh a few minutes ago, during which the words and music to Top of the World, by The Carpenters—does that date me?—started up in my head.
Now, there's nothing really wrong with having
So, I broke out in a full-throated, semi-baritone of a song, of WW II vintage, that I heard sung by the Alexandrov Song and Dance Ensemble (back when "Red Army" was part of the troupe's name):
The tactic worked.
Cheers...
Now, there's nothing really wrong with having
I'm on the top of the world looking down on creation, rattle around in one's head for a while, but it was a rather long walk, and there was the rest of the day to consider, so I tried to think of a way to "break the cycle," as it were.
And the only explanation I can find,
Is the love that I've found
Ever since you've been around.
Your love's put me on the top of the world.
So, I broke out in a full-throated, semi-baritone of a song, of WW II vintage, that I heard sung by the Alexandrov Song and Dance Ensemble (back when "Red Army" was part of the troupe's name):
Вставай, страна огромная,I felt safe in doing so, as there are very few pedestrians in our neck of the woods. <grin>
Вставай на смертный бой
С фашистской силой тёмною,
С проклятою ордой.
Пусть ярость благородная
Вскипает, как волна!
Идёт война народная,
Священная война!
* * *
Arise, o, formidable county!
Arise to mortal combat
With the dark force of fascism,
With the infernal horde!
Let noble fury
Boil like a wave!
The people are waging war,
Waging a sacred war!
[My rather free sight translation]
The tactic worked.
Cheers...
