The morning was spent invoicing, which gives me the idea that I should probably devote some effort to streamlining the process. A secondary issue in this regard is figuring out where the data ought to reside.

You see, before I left for Kazakhstan, my invoicing capability had resided on the Raspberry Pi-powered web server in the bedroom next door. Since I didn't want to take a second computer with me, I ended up copying the database to the Linux setup I have running under VMWare, where it sits today. I get at it by firing up the browser inside of Linux and looking for the right page on localhost.

So aside from the general question of how can I make the process more efficient, there exists the question of where the "engine" behind it all should sit. I like using the BambooInvoice solution, because it doesn't try to lock your data into some kind of proprietary format, and it provides just about the level of complexity that I need for my purposes. Keeping the data on my work machine, however, means having to fire up VMWare to get at it. But keeping it on a network server... it's much more convenient, of course, but I wonder about its vulnerability and about what happens if I have to go out "into the field" for a couple of weeks.

Some of the afternoon was spent translating, and then getting a haircut. I'm not quite sure those are two sides of any coin I'd care to use in trade, but there you have it.

There's more translation that must be done tomorrow, for Monday morning. Other than that, I'm as free as the proverbial breeze to get better acquainted with this Corolla that's in the garage...
