A went along with Galina this morning across town to pick up her new eyeglasses. We then ended up spending a whole lot more than we expected on groceries and things. On what is probably a related note, my food consumption discipline for the day was lousy.

On the plus side, I took care of all outstanding translations, leaving me free to address other issues that need addressing.

This evening, I browsed a bit through Hulu and found the pilots to Ironside and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. I punched them up, the former because I was curious about what has been done with the old Raymond Burr character, and the latter because it was there.

Ironside did a reasonable job of living up to my expectations. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. started out with promise, with a mood-setting exchange between our hero agent and his supervisor, who starts by asking: "Do you know what S.H.I.E.L.D. stands for?" After sounding out the acronym, the supervisor then asks: "So you know what that means?" To which our hero answers "Yeah. Someone really wanted the organization's abbreviated name to spell 'shield'." My standards for snappy dialog are not high; this exchange passes, in my book. Unfortunately, the subsequent story line quickly became, in my opinion, utterly stupid, and I could not bear to watch any more of the pilot.

In any event, it's nice to see stuff like this on Hulu. It sure saves wear and tear on the home DVR.
