Too. Much. Work.
May. 24th, 2014 09:28 pmNo two ways about it.
And it's not as though I could have done anything about it, except to have been more aware of the scope of what I had to get done this weekend.
A group of people that Galina and I are acquainted with scheduled a get-together on nearly the other side of town this evening (which is no small distance, let me tell you!). The purpose of the soirĂ©e was to break bread and—go figure—to discuss Maugham's The Painted Veil, but around noon, it became clear that if I didn't want to be up all night chasing a deadline, I better not go.
As it turns out, I just sent out the completed work, after having dealt with yet another TimesNewRomanPSMT crisis. This time, instead of Adobe Acrobat, the culprit was PowerPoint, which refused to save my work because said file was not installed on my system (and hence, could not be embedded in the file to be saved). Fortunately, I did manage to find a workaround: do a search-and-replace on the font! Naturally, said workaround was not found by referring to the Microsoft "help" feature (which I tried after finding the fix, just as a test and a way to reinforce my faith in the immutability of the universe).
It's been a long day, and Galina just returned home!
Cheers...
