Between [livejournal.com profile] taiyosan talking about Netflix in a recent post and finding out that Feht and one of our customers are subscibers, too, I figured: What the heck? Especially as they have a 10-day trial membership.

So I signed up (which seemed to be about the only way to get a look at their catalog of available titles).

I signed up primarily for films in the foreign language category (especialy French and Russian). Unfortunately, there's pretty slim pickin's in those two categories. Nonetheless, I placed a couple of French films and one Russian one in my "queue," and hope to get them in time to decide whether the service ($20 per month, give or take) is worth it.

Galina and I watched Lord of the Rings the other night. It was her first viewing and my second, and it was pretty enjoyable (I knew enough to answer Galina's questions about who what doing what to whom, at least).

Early this morning, I managed to find a 1992 IAA English/German/French/Russian aerospace glossary that I'd squirreled away a long time ago. I might check a few terms (when I have some time) against what is out there on the Internet, just to make sure this is not one of those compilations that contains a lot of junk, and which nobody in their right mind uses.

But that time is not now. Despite the relatively early hour, I think I'm going to go to bed. It's been a long day.

Cheers...

Glad-

you're giving it a try. While i have some doubts about knowing when they will arrive, they're so close to me, that, so far, it just takes a day ... have wondered about the availability of popular titles but as i'm not a blockbuster watcher i dont' think it'll be a problem.

Funny that they don't get damaged in the flimsey envelopes they use but without having to pay for the mailing, i've no complaints.

I thought i'd use their DVD to study particular directors ... but haven't quite turned my attention in that direction yet ... hope it works out for you!
