By way of LJ friend [livejournal.com profile] avva, I have been introduced to a neat dictionary page at gramota.ru. One of the dictionaries is a dictionary of Russian first names, so I entered "Галина" (Galina) just to see what'd happen. The result:
I am now so loaded for bear in the nickname department. :^)

In other news, the weather has been so hot lately that any kind of outdoor exercise is a fairly silly idea until nearly sundown, and then the sun is well and truly down and you're walking around in the dark. So this morning, I set out at 6:45 am for my short walk "around the block," and although you have to deal with the sun in your eyes as you're coming back, at least you can see where you're going.

I'm happy to report that all is okay on the bank account front (though it's still only morning... give it time!), so all I really need to do is make those phone calls to find out what the delays in payment are all about.

Then it's a return to the face of the salttranslation mine. (That doesn't make much sense, does it?)

My, but I believe I am in a much better mood this morning.

Cheers...

I made one of my progress sheets for the remainder of the job yesterday. It showed 55 pages left to do and between yesterday's work and today's, I just got to the bottom of the first page (of two). There are now 11 pages left in the translation, and I am through the worst of it (the bulk of the section on MOS semiconductors).

A little investment in research time put me in possession of a handy PDF file with what appear to be the keys to the kingdom for modeling MOSFETs, so much so that I must begin to wonder how is it that the software whose manual I am translating uses largely the same parameter names (with the same meanings, naturally) as those being used in other programs? Hmmm?

I'll not be complaining, of course, as I probably would never in a million years have guessed a few of the more abstruse parameter names. (Then again, I must've lost a little time going back and correcting some educated guesses made earlier.)

The word count stands at about 4400 for the day so far. I think I'll take a break and make dinner for Galina and me.

Cheers...
