Three jobs on the plate, all one due tomorrow morning, another due tomorrow mid-day, and the third should be finished by about 2 pm.

I've nailed 8 of 12 files of the one due noon, which is probably the most challenging of the the three jobs. The one due in the morning will take about 2 hours, and the third one... well, let's just say I plan to have the other two done and ready to go by dinnertime today, so I can start in on it tonight.

Apropos of food, yesterday, I did add some beaten raw egg to my rice-and-natto breakfast, and was pleasantly surprised by how tasty it was. I ate the last of the rice yesterday, so I'll have to cook some more, pronto.

In a fantastic display of telepathic sympathy, the Infiniti Galina is driving has suffered a mechanical failure, the extent of which brightened the spirits of the repair department at the dealership not far from Seabrook.

I never cease to be amazed at the degree of solidarity that exists among machines.

In other news, Drew came over the other night and trip-trapped through the first, most basic training scenario of CoD:MW2 that I had finally installed on the computer upstairs, completing the course in 45 seconds. I've been winding down in the evenings by playing for about 15 minutes, trying to better that score.

I've been getting better, to the point where now I can finish the course in under a minute 3 times out of 5, but I've yet to break the 50 second barrier.

I must be getting old.

And on that cheery note... back to the face!

Cheers...

What should have been the simplest file of the bunch I have been working on today has turned into a bloody nightmare. The word count for the entire 57 pages is 20.

That's because MS Word doesn't count words inside of text boxes. Nor does Word appear to have the capability of doing search-and-replace for text inside of text boxes.

And there are many, many text boxes in this file.

Funny thing is, when the scope of what I had fallen into hit me fully, I went off on a 20-minute pity-party before buckling down and "turning to." Over the next 20 minutes, I managed to nail about 7 pages of moderate complexity.

I am currently a little more than halfway through the file, and it would appear that whoever put it together became progressively lazier and lazier with regard to the insertion of text boxes, so with any luck, the remaining pages will go faster.

I comfort myself with the thought that I fully intend to take this weekend off and spend time with the grandkids. But to do that, I need to clear the decks.

Cheers...

I am probably in a pretty good position to finish off everything on time.

I have about 500 words left of the item due tomorrow morning, and I've done this kind of document so many times, I should be able to knock that off in about 30 minutes. The despeckling may take only another hour, because I've been particularly attentive while translating.

I have about 500 words left of the cluster of documents due at noon, and I've pretty much despeckled 10 of 12 documents in the cluster.

The third item on the plate involves incorporating revisions (in revision mode) on 75 pages of a document. The good news is that I translated the previous version of the blessed thing, so I will likely not face any weirdness from that quarter. I looked at the revisions I have to incorporate, and only a few of them look pathological, so I have a good chance of getting them out by mid-afternoon.

But to do all that, I'm going to have to fall into the arms of Morpheus real soon, so I can get up early with the... uh, no... I guess they've flown south for the winter. Hmmm.... zzz...

Cheers...
