Revisiting the past and the present...
Jan. 26th, 2013 11:44 pmToday was Natalie's and my day to go back down and visit Scotts Valley and Santa Cruz.
It occurred to me, on the road down there, that 20 years ago this month, our family had returned to California from its Colorado vacation in order to pack all our stuff for the Big Move™, from California to Colorado, which would occur at the end of January.
There's no denying that the climate and scenery—and yes, many of the people—make this part of the world quite an attractive place to live. But the cost of living is rather high.
We caught up with
bandicoot (certainly among the oldest—if not the oldest—of my LJ friends), who was kind enough to reintroduce me (and introduce Natalie) to the pistol range run by the Scotts Valley Sportsmen's Club, of which I was a member some two decades ago. Afterward, we grabbed a bite at Bruno's BBQ in town and spent a very pleasant time.
There is quite a lot more to report on, but I need my rest. I will conclude with a quote from an old Borland colleague, heard over breakfast, which will require some amplification down the line:
